Built by the architect Zenon in the 2nd century AD under Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Aspendos is celebrated worldwide as the most intact antique theatre in existence. It could seat up to 12,000 spectators and still hosts international opera and ballet performances every summer under the stars.
